GRAND LAKE, Colo. - Stevenson women's lacrosse senior Olivia Monteiro was named to the IWLCA Division III All-Region First Team while freshman Sarah Roerty was named to the Second Team announced on Friday.
A total of 256 student-athletes were honored in Division III with those student-athletes now eligible for inclusion on the IWLCA All-American teams, which will be announced on Friday, May 19. The IWLCA will honor the National All-Americans at the IWLCA All-American Banquet on Saturday June 3.
The Mustangs, who advanced to their fifth consecutive conference championship game, have had a total of 24 IWLCA All-Region selections since receiving the program's first two in 2008.
The MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year, Monteiro had a record setting season. Her 75 points this season ranks fourth in a single season in program history while her 55 goals set the single season record. The seniors 68 draw controls set a new mark.
Monteiro recorded a point in every game this season and finished with 16 multi-point games. She recorded at least five points, nine times, including a career-best versus Lycoming. Monteiro finished fifth in program history with 203 points, sixth with 147 goals and tied for fourth with 56 assists. She also ranks third with 165 draw controls.
Roerty was named to the MAC Commonwealth First Team after a standout rookie season on defense. She led the team with 57 ground balls and 28 caused turnovers while ranking second with 51 draw controls.
In addition to her defensive stats, Roerty totaled six points on three goals and three assists. She finished with eight ground balls, six draw controls and four caused turnovers versus Hood this season while recording at least five ground balls four times. Roerty also totaled at least five draw controls, four times.
Stevenson fell to top-seeded and 8th-ranked Messiah in the MAC Commonwealth Championship.
