OWINGS MILLS, Md. - For the second consecutive game, Stevenson women's lacrosse senior Tori Bruno tied her career-high with four goals as the Mustangs won their fourth straight game with a 20-5 MAC Commonwealth victory over Alvernia Thursday night at Mustang Stadium.
During the four-game win streak, the Mustangs (7-6, 4-2 MAC Commonwealth) have outscored their opponents, 80-24 and have scored at least 20 goals, three times. The team also improves to 5-0 all-time versus Alvernia and 32-5 in regular season conference play since joining the league.
Stevenson jumped out to a 6-0 lead midway through the opening half as both senior Mackenzie Reese and freshman Mallory Davila each scored twice. Reese finished with three goals on six shots while Davila recorded two goals on two shots.
Senior Olivia Monteiro extended her point and goal streak to 14 games with a free-position goal in the opening half. She leads the team with 53 points, 39 goals and 14 assists.
The second half was similar to the first as the Mustangs opened the half with seven straight goals before the Crusaders (6-6, 2-2 MAC Commonwealth) score with 5:53 remaining.
Senior Brady Heher recorded her 15th career game with at least three goals while classmate Mackenzie Reese scored three goals for the fifth time this season. Meanwhile, freshman Brianna Christie scored in the fourth consecutive game.
Freshman Amy O'Dell netted her first career goal with one second remaining in regulation.
The Mustangs outshot Alvernia, 34-23 while winning 18 of the 25 draw controls. The hosts also had a 17-16 edge in ground balls and were 4-for-8 on free-position attempts.
Stevenson returns to action on Wednesday, April 19 when the Mustangs travel to Albright for a MAC Commonwealth contest beginning at 7:00 p.m.
