CHESTER, Pa. - The trio of seniors Mandy Marston, Marissa Meiklejohn and Leah Warner combined to total 10 points, including seven goals, as the Stevenson women's lacrosse team posted its ninth-straight victory with a 13-4 Commonwealth Conference win over Widener Thursday night at Edith R. Dixon Field.
With the win, the Mustangs (10-4, 5-0 MAC) extended their record to 13-0 in two seasons since joining the league. In its five conference games this season, Stevenson's opponents are averaging just 4.8 goals per game.
Stevenson jumped out to a 4-0 lead as the trio had a hand in all four goals, each scoring once while Meiklejohn assisted on a goal by junior Kathryn Merrick. The Mustangs would score five more first half goals, broken up by a pair of Pride goals, the last coming with five second remaining before halftime.
Meiklejohn totaled her eighth hat trick of the season and 30th of her career with her third goal of the game just under ten minutes into the second half. Merrick, Meiklejohn and Warner have combined for 157 points this season, 14 more than all of Stevenson's components combined.
Sophomore Jordan Porretto scored her first career goal and second point from her defense position with a free position in the first half.
Widener (3-10, 3-3 MAC) was led by Mackenzie Lindquist who finished with two goals while Megan Dunn made 12 saves. Junior Leanne Bittner totaled 10.
Stevenson returns to action on Tuesday, April 22 when it travels to face Messiah in a Commonwealth Conference contest beginning at 4:00 p.m.
