Mustangs Picked to Finish Fourth in Inaugural UCHC

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - After competing in the Colonial Hockey Conference for the past two seasons, the Stevenson women's ice hockey team was picked to finish fourth in the inaugural United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) Preseason Poll.

The Mustangs, who begin their sixth season and fifth under head coach Tracy Johnson, received 45 points.

Elmira was the unanimous decision to win the conference after receiving 72 points and all eight fits place votes. The Soaring Eagles have made 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, including nine Frozen Four's. Utica and Manhattanville rounded out the top three with 61 and 57 points, respectively.

Stevenson is 0-2 versus Elmira, playing the Soaring Eagles in each of its first two seasons. Against both Utica and Manhattanville, the Mustangs are 1-2, winning the last meeting against each team.

Rounding out the poll is William Smith in fifth place, followed by Neumann, Chatham, King's (Pa.) and Lebanon Valley.

Stevenson opens the 2017-18 season on Friday, October 27 against Adrian in the Bulldog Bowl beginning at 7:00 p.m.
