VanDeCar Cards 79 in Opening Round of NCAA Championships, Mustangs in 16th Place

HOUSTON, Texas - Sophomore Emma VanDeCar carded a seven-over par 79 to open up play at the NCAA Division III Championships, held at the Bay Oaks Country Club. VanDeCar's score, which has her in a tie for 39th, is her lowest since shooting a 77 on the second day of the Gettysburg Invitational on April 14.

The Mustangs are currently 16th out of 25 schools with a team score of 335.

Sophomore Laura Rentz notched an 82 for the Mustangs, placing her into a tie for 64th overall.

Freshman Amanda Perez finished the day with an 85, while sophomore Elise Glauser shot an 89. 

Junior Julia Kline shot a 91 for the Mustangs. 

Bailey Plourde of Centre College leads the field with a one-under par 71. University of Redlands leads the team standings by one stroke over second-place Methodist with a team score of 306. 

The second round takes place on Wednesday, May 15.
