Curry, Coleman Post Double-Doubles in Setback at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Stevenson University women's basketball team cut an eight-point deficit after three quarters to one in the final frame but eventually fell 66-60 at Lebanon Valley in MAC Commonwealth play Wednesday night at Sorrentino Gymnasium.

  • Lebanon Valley (3-4, 1-0 MAC Commonwealth) held an early 6-4 lead following a pair of Anne Lehr free throws 3:22 in.
  • Stevenson (2-4, 0-1 MAC Commonwealth) scored the next four points and an Olivia Coleman layup put the Mustangs on top 8-6 at the 4:26 mark.
  • After Lehr tied the game 16 seconds later, Stevenson scored the last five points of the quarter, and a conventional three-point play by Jonyae Curry with 1:42 to go put the Mustangs up 13-8.
  • Stevenson closed on a 9-2 run.

  • A Coleman basket just over a minute in extended the Mustang lead to 15-8.
  • Stevenson held a 22-14 lead with just over four minutes left following a Hannah Crist layup.
  • Seven straight points capped by an Ashley Kline three pulled the Dutchmen within one, 22-21, at the 2:58 mark.
  • Back-to-back layups by Crist and Denia Campbell upped Stevenson's lead to five, 26-21, with 2:12 left.
  • LVC held the Mustangs without a field goal the rest of the half and closed on a 6-1 run to tie the game 27-27 at intermission.

  • After two ties, Lebanon Valley used a 7-0 run to build a 38-34 lead with 3:55 left in the period.
  • The Dutchmen extended their lead to 42-35 on a pair of Emily Mealey free throws at the 2:51 mark.
  • Alexa Sanmartin made it a 44-38 game at the 1:39 mark on a pair of free throws before an LVC three pushed the lead to nine.
  • Lebanon Valley led 48-40 heading into the final quarter.
  • Stevenson was held without a field goal for the final 7:27 of the frame.

  • Stevenson pulled within four, 50-46, at the 8:06 mark on a Crist three.
  • The Mustangs continued to chip away and pulled within one twice, the second time on a Curry free throw with 4:12 left that made it 54-53.
  • Lebanon Valley utilized an 8-2 run to build a 62-55 lead on a layup at the 2:44 mark.
  • Stevenson cut the lead to four twice, the last on a Campbell free throw with 28 seconds left, but got no closer.

  • Stevenson shot 42.9% overall and held LVC to 36% overall, but the Mustangs had 26 turnovers to 14 for the Dutchmen, leading to a 19-7 lead in points off turnovers for the hosts.
  • The Mustangs went to the free throw line 37 times, making 23 (62.2%), while LVC was 20-29 (69%) at the stripe.
  • Stevenson held a 42-32 rebound advantage.
  • Curry finished with 17 points and 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.
  • Coleman also notched a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds while also blocking three shots.
  • Crist posted 11 points while Campbell finished with 10.
