Mustangs Rally Falls Short in Doubleheader Loss Versus Albright

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Senior Danielle Ebbighausen hit a two-RBI double to send the second game to extra innings but the rally fell short as the Stevenson softball team dropped a MAC Commonwealth doubleheader versus Albright on Senior Day Saturday afternoon at Weinberg-Fine Stadium.

  • Albright 5, Stevenson 4; WP: Melahn (7-4), L: Fulton (8-7)
  • Both teams recorded just one hit through the first two innings before the Mustangs (11-18, 3-9 MAC Commonwealth) scored two runs on two hits in the bottom of the third.
  • Junior Haley Lennon hit a two-out RBI double before scoring on an error that allowed senior Erin Stephey to reach first.
  • The Lions (13-15, 7-3 MAC Commonwealth) pushed a run across in the fourth and fifth innings, both unearned, to tie the game at 2-2.
  • In the bottom of the fifth inning, Stevenson scored two unearned runs as runners on first and second after an error by the right fielder.
  • Albright tied the game once again with a two-run homer in the top of the sixth inning.
  • The Lions scored the go-ahead run in the seventh inning with a one-out single up the middle.
  • In the bottom of the inning, Stephey hit a two-out single but was left stranded.
  • Stephey and Ebbighausen both finished with two hits.
  • Fulton recorded five strikeouts for the third time this season.

  • Stevenson knotted the game at 2-2 in the third inning after a sacrifice fly by Stephey and an RBI double by junior Erin Muir.
  • In the top of the seventh inning, Albright took a three-run lead after scoring three runs on three hits.
  • With two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Fulton hit an RBI single up the middle before Ebbighausen hit a two-RBI double to left field to tie the game.
  • In the eighth inning, the Lions took a two-run lead with a one-out home run to left center.
  • In the bottom half of the inning, the Mustangs had runners on second and third but were left stranded.
  • Fulton and Ebbighausen both went 3-for-4 while Stephey recorded two hits.
