Shaw joined the Mustangs in 2017, serving as an assistant coach for the cross country and track and field programs. Starting in January 2018, Shaw was named the graduate assistant for both cross country and track and field.
Shaw has come to Stevenson shortly after graduating from Aurora University in Illinois. Aurora’s men’s team won the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Cross Country Championships during Shaw’s freshmen, junior, and senior seasons at Aurora (’13,’15,’16). Shaw earned first team all NACC honors by placing 10th overall in the conference championship as a senior. He also was one of the competitors in the 2016 NCAA Midwest Regional Championships where Aurora placed 11th overall, which was the highest finish in the program’s history.
Shaw also had a successful track career for the Spartan’s being a part of teams that won the NACC championships during his freshmen and sophomore seasons (’14, ’15). Shaw garnered NACC all-conference honors during his junior outdoor season with a 3rd place finish in the 10,000 meter race. During his senior indoor season, Shaw anchored the NACC champion men’s distance medley relay squad. Shaw also served as a team captain throughout his senior year of college.
A 2017 graduate of Aurora University, Shaw earned his bachelor’s degree in English with magna Cum Lade honors. A native of Poway, California Shaw won two varsity letters in cross country and three in track, where he was also a team captain during his senior seasons.
