ANNVILLE, Pa. - Just two years removed from a NCAA Division III Men's Volleyball Final Four appearance, the Stevenson men's volleyball team was the unanimous pick to win the inaugural Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) men's volleyball title announced by the league on Thursday.
The Mustangs earned all six first-place votes and received 36 points, eight ahead of second place Arcadia and nine more than third place Messiah. Alvernia, Arcadia and Wilkes are entering its second season of competition while the remaining three teams will begin their inaugural season.
Stevenson moves to the MAC after competing in the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) since the league's existence in 2012. The Mustangs made the tournament in all six season, including an appearance in the championship game, three times. The team won its first-ever title in 2016.
Despite graduating five seniors from a season ago, the Mustangs return the 2016 CVC and ECAC Rookie of the Year, Landon Shorts. The junior has totaled double digit kills in 41 of 65 career matches and ranks eighth in program history with 745 kills. He holds the school record with 120 service aces.
The Mustangs open the 2018 season on the west coast versus Menlo before playing in the Slug Slam Tournament hosted by UC Santa Cruz. Stevenson's begin conference play on February 3 when it hosts Wilkes.
