Jacoby, Richardson Lead Mustangs to Five-Set CVC Victory Over Thiel

HUNTINGTON, Pa. - Stevenson men's volleyball sophomore Austin Jacoby (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) and freshman Wesley Richardson (York, Pa./Central York) combined for 31 kills as the Mustangs avenged an early season loss with a 23-25, 25-18, 25-15, 24-26, 15-12 victory over Thiel Saturday at Juniata.

Stevenson (16-10, 4-3 CVC East) posted its 13th win in its last 17 games and with it, moved into second place in the CVC East, one-game ahead of Thiel and Eastern Mennonite. The Mustangs also avenged a 3-2 loss to the Tomcats at home back on March 3.

Jacoby totaled 18 kills on 49 attempts, five shy of his season-high set in the season-opener against Lehman when he had 24 kills.

Richardson's 13 kills were two short of his career-high set in the first meeting versus the Tomcats when he had a career-high 33 attempts. He had 31 attempts on Saturday.

Sophomore Eddy Klepper (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) had nine kills and six total blocks while junior Rob Kryger (Massapequa, N.Y./Massapequa) and freshman Kyle Wisner (York, Pa./Central York) each had seven kills.

Freshman David Moler (York, Pa./Central York) totaled 52 assists and 14 digs while sophomore Adam Thatcher (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright) and freshman Patrick Devine (York, Pa./Central York) added 15 and 14 digs, respectively.

Freshman John Crinion (Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice) totaled four kills and 11 digs.

Dante McCoy had 16 kills and nine digs to lead the Tomcats (15-17, 2-4 CVC East). Ian Phillips had 17 digs.

Stevenson hosts a tri-match with D'Youville and Washington Adventist on Monday at Owings Mills Gymnasium beginning at 4:00 p.m.
