Mustangs Set Four School Records at Swarthmore

SWARTHMORE, Pa. - The Stevenson men's track and field team set four school records at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier Meet. 

Freshman Dimeon Wright placed first overall and set a new school record in the long jump with a leap of 7.26m, which propelled him into a tie for 12th overall in Division III.

Sophomore Iddriss Iddriss finished second overall and set a new school mark in the 800 with a blazing time of 1:51.27, which is currently the 10th fastest time in the nation. Sophomore Patrick Watson shattered his previous school mark in the 3000m Steeplechase by over 26 seconds with a time of 9:13.84. Watson's time moved him into the top-20 in the country and into a tie for 16th.  

The top-20 declared athletes in each event qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships. 

Also setting a school mark was freshman Maurice Johnson, who broke his outdoor record in the shot put with a toss of 14.47m. 

In the 4x400m relay, junior Kendall Belser, freshman Ritchie Case, junior Vladhimir Theophile and Iddriss ran a combined time of 3:20.65 to finish fourth overall. 

Individually, Belser clocked an 11.16 in the 100 to finish ninth overall, while junior Langston Gash ran a 3:58.71 in the 1500.

In the 4x100, junior Malcolm Hayward, Belser, junior Matt Riggins and freshman Dereck Davis clocked a combined 42.73 to finish seventh. 

The squad competes next at the ECAC Division III Outdoor Championships, hosted by Johns Hopkins, starting on Wednesday, May 16 through Thursday, May 17.
