CHESTER, Pa. - Freshman Ritchie Case leads the field after five of 10 events in the decathlon with a score of 3514 points at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, hosted by Widener. Case won four of the five events, setting personal bests in three of them. Case took first overall and set a new personal mark in the 100m dash (11.30 seconds), high jump (1.84m) and the 400m dash (50.19 seconds). Case also placed first in the long jump (6.58m) and second in the shot put (10.84m).
In the 4x800m relay, juniors Sam Mercoli, Langston Gash, freshman Sean Dodson and sophomore Iddriss Iddriss placed a close second with a school-record time of 7:48.58, which was just .06 seconds behind Lebanon Valley. The second-place finish earned the group a spot on the All-MAC Second Team.
Sophomore Patrick Watson shattered the previous school record in the 10,000m (32:22.62) with a time of 32:07.11, giving him second overall and a spot on the all-conference second team.
Junior Forrest Allen took eighth in the hammer throw with a distance of 39.44m.
After the first of three days, Stevenson is second overall in the team standings with 20 points. Widener leads the field with 31.
The second day of competition takes place on Friday, May 4.
