NEW ORLEANS – The Stevenson University men's outdoor track and field team sits just outside the USTFCCCA Top 25 rankings as the organization released its Week 6 ranking late Tuesday. The Mustangs, with a total of 37.42 points, moved up 58 spots and currently sit No. 27 out of a total of 178 teams earning points this week.
Stevenson moved up after several strong performances at last weekend's Middle Atlantic Conference Championship, an event in which the Mustangs placed third. Senior Devonte Williams won the 100 meter dash with a school-record 10.43 second effort, a mark that stands second nationally. Williams also posted the fifth-fastest 200 meter dash time (21.33 seconds) at the event to place second.
Two relay teams give Stevenson the rest of its points. The 4x100 meter relay team of Bailey, Riggins, Williams and freshman Aaron Holliday owns the 13th-fastest time in the country of 41.57 seconds set at the Penn Relays. The 4x400 squad of Williams, Riggins, freshman Iddriss Iddriss and sophomore Colin Horne posted a time of 3:18.57 at the Penn Relays to also earn points.
Stevenson will compete in several events to prepare leading up to the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championship set for May 25-27 in Geneva, Ohio.
