BOSTON, Ma. - Sophomore Ritchie Case finished 17th overall in the heptathlon at the NCAA Indoor Championships, held at the Reggie Lewis Center, with a total score of 4143 points.
Case, who went into the day sitting in 12th place, opened up with a 9.05 in the 60m hurdles to take 15th in the event. However, Case was unable to clear the bar in the pole vault, giving him 0 points for the event. Case finished up his first nationals appearance with a 2:52.63 in the 1000m run, which gave him ninth in the event.
Case was the first athlete in program history to qualify for nationals in the heptathlon. Case qualified for nationals at the Bison Open on January 25-26, where he finished with a total score of 4757 points. Case would later win the event at the MAC Indoor Championships, where he finished with a total score of 4357.
