Men's Tennis Dominates Hood, Improves to 11-0

FREDERICK, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team routed host Hood by a 9-0 score to improve to 3-0 in MAC Commonwealth play and 11-0 overall.

Juniors Drew Ryan and Ray McDermott cruised to an 8-2 victory in No. 1 doubles, giving them six-straight wins as a duo. In No. 2, senior Douglas Vaughan and junior Andre Sturniolo won their eighth match in a row and 12th overall in an 8-0 rout of their opponents. Senior Wornden Ly and sophomore Richie Abruscato remained undefeated as a tandem (6-0) in their 8-0 win in No. 3.

McDermott did not surrender a single game in his No. 1 singles victory, where he took down his opponent by a 6-0, 6-0 score. McDermott has won four-straight matches. 

Sturniolo picked up his 11th win of the season in a 6-2, 6-1 triumph in No. 2, while Ryan rolled to his eighth-straight victory by a 6-0, 6-1 decision in No. 3. 

Both Vaughan and Ly shutout their opponents by a 6-0, 6-0 score in No. 4 and No. 5 singles. The win gives Vaughan 10 on the year. 

Freshman Larry Johnson III improved his record to 9-2 in an impressive 6-1, 6-0 performance in No. 6. 

The Mustangs will look to remain undefeated when they take on Arcadia in a MAC Commonwealth match on Saturday, April 13 at the Greenspring Tennis Courts. The match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
