Mustangs Shutout McDaniel, Improve to 10-0

STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team improved to 10-0 on the season after shutting out visiting McDaniel in a non-conference matchup at the Greenspring Tennis Courts. 

Juniors Drew Ryan and Ray McDermott kicked things off with a dominant performance in No. 1 doubles, taking down their opponents by an 8-1 score. The win gives the duo six victories on the year. In No. 2, junior Andre Sturniolo and Douglas Vaughan cruised to an 8-3 win to improve to 11-1 on the season. Sturniolo and Vaughan have won seven-straight matches. Senior Wornden Ly and sophomore Richie Abruscato remain undefeated after taking down their No. 3 opponents by an 8-0 score. 

McDermott moved to 7-4 on the year after taking his No. 1 match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3. Sturniolo picked up his 10th win in his No. 2 triumph, 6-1, 6-1.

In No. 3 singles, Ryan earned his seventh-straight win in a 6-1, 6-0 rout, while freshman Larry Johnson III picked up a 6-2, 6-1 victory to improve to 8-2. 

Senior Peter Appiah Jr. picked up a hard-fought victory in his No. 5 match, winning in three sets by a 3-6, 6-2, 10-4 score. 

Freshman Lukas Sanidas earned his third career victory in a 6-1, 6-0 win in No. 6.

The undefeated Mustangs (10-0, 2-0 MAC Commonwealth) continue conference play on Wednesday, April 10 in a road match at Hood. First serve is set for 3:30 p.m.
