Sturniolo, Ryan Pick Up Straight-Set Victories in Mustangs' 7-2 Loss to Juniata

SALISBURY, Md. - The Stevenson men's tennis team dropped its second-straight match this spring in a 7-2 setback to Juniata in a match played at the Salisbury Indoor Tennis Center.

Junior Andrew Ryan picked up his fifth singles win of the season after taking his No. 4 singles match in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2. 

Sophomore Andre Sturniolo earned his first singles win as a Mustang in a 6-3, 6-4 triumph in No. 2. 

Senior Wornden Ly won the first set in his No. 3 singles matchup, but would drop the next two in a 3-6, 6-1, 6-0 setback.

Sophomore Ray McDermott fell in his No. 1 singles match 6-3, 6-1, while Richie Abruscato lost his No. 6 match by a 6-2, 7-5 score. 

Earlier in the day, Ly and McDermott lost their first No. 1 doubles match of the spring in 8-5 defeat. Sturniolo and Abruscato dropped their No. 3 match by the same 8-5 score.

The Mustangs (1-4) won't compete again until spring break when they head to Hilton Head, S.C. to take on Illinois Wesleyan on Tuesday, March 13.
