Mustangs Dominate Marietta at PTR Spring TennisFest, 8-1

HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Stevenson men's tennis team picked up its first win of the season in an 8-1 rout of Marietta College (Ohio) at the PTR Spring TennisFest. Senior Bryan Gieselman picked up his second-straight victory in No. 1 singles with a 6-3, 6-3 triumph over Marietta's Shane Spencer. 

In No. 1 doubles, Gieselman and junior Wornden Ly teamed up to defeat their opponents by an 8-4 score. Later in the day, Ly won his No. 2 singles match in straight sets, 7-5, 6-3.  

Seniors Tony Beres and Kevin Slujtner were dominant in their 8-0 win in No. 3 doubles. In No. 5 singles, Slujtner cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win, while Beres won his No. 6 singles match in straight sets, 6-0, 7-5. 

Sophomore Douglas Vaughan picked up a win in his No. 3 singles match by a 6-3, 6-0 score. Peter Appiah Jr. took his No. 4 singles match in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3.

The Mustangs (1-6) compete next in a match against FDU-Florham on Saturday, March 18 at 8 am.
