Otto, Plevyak Headline Men's Soccer All-CAC Selections

All-CAC Teams

YORK, Pa. - After posting the team's highest win total since 2005, making its first-ever postseason appearance and advancing to the CAC championship game, the Stevenson men's soccer team was rewarded with three All-CAC selections, including the Coach of the Year and Rookie of the Year.

Freshman Ansger Otto (Willingboro, N.J./Willingboro) was named CAC Rookie of the Year after leading the team with nine goals and 22 points. He also has two game-winning goals.

Otto was also chosen to the All-CAC First Team, becoming just the second player to earn first team honors in the team's three seasons in the league. Goalkeeper Eric Lowman, who was the first Mustang to receive All-CAC honors, was also named to the first team in 2007.

Third-year head coach John Plevyak was honored with his first Coach of the Year award as he led Stevenson to a fourth-place finish in the CAC and the second-most wins in the program's 16-year history, three shy of the school record. The Mustangs also improved five games over last season's 7-9-2 record.

Plevyak shared the honor with Mary Washington head coach Roy Gordon who led the Eagles to a 12-7-1 record and a third-place finish in the conference standings.

Otto was one of three All-CAC honorees for the Mustangs, joining sophomores Samuel Bryant (Burlington Township, N.J./Burlington Township) and Ryan Flannelly (Middlesex, N.J./Middlesex) who were both named to the second team, receiving their first all-conference honors.

Bryant has started in all 18 games in which he has played this season, totaling four points on one goal and two assists in the midfield. His lone goal was the game-winner in the team's 6-1 victory over Penn State-Harrisburg on September 15.

Meanwhile, Flannelly started 20 of the team's 22 games in goal, playing in 1,573 out of 2,000 minutes while leading the CAC with an .853 save percentage and five shutouts. He also ranks second in saves and third in goals against average.

The 2009 season continues for Stevenson on Saturday when they travel to Erie, Pennsylvania to face CAC rival Wesley for the third time this season in the semifinals of the ECAC Division III South Championship.
