Men's Soccer Selected to ECAC South Championship

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - After finishing the season just three wins shy of a school record, the Stevenson men's soccer team was rewarded with its first postseason appearance in the team's 16-year history as the Mustangs were one of eight teams selected to the 2009 ECAC Division III South Championship on Monday.
Stevenson is the sixth-seed and will travel to third-seeded Penn State-Altoona on Wednesday in the first round. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
The Mustangs were one of two teams selected from the CAC, joining Wesley who is the No. 7-seed and will travel to second-seeded Penn State-Abington on Wednesday.
Penn State-Behrend received the top-seed and will play eighth-seeded Neumann in the first round while fourth-seeded Lebanon Valley will host fifth-seeded DeSales in Wednesday's other contest.
The semifinals and championship games will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the highest remaining seed following Wednesday's four first round contests.
Stevenson posted its first 10-win season since 2006 and has totaled at least 10 wins in four of the last four seasons. The team has a record of 3-0 versus two of the teams selected for this year's ECAC tournament, besting CAC rival Wesley twice, 2-1 on October 25 and 3-0 in the first round of the CAC Men's Soccer Championship just six days later.
The Mustangs also shutout Neumann on the road on October 14, 1-0.
