ANNVILLE, Pa. - For the second consecutive week, the Stevenson men's ice hockey team swept the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Player of the Week awards as senior Mike Davis was named the Offensive Player of the Week while Jacob Caffrey was named the Defensive Player of the Week announced by the league on Monday.
The Mustangs (4-0-1, 3-0-0 MAC) have won all three offensive player of the week honors this season while Caffrey earns his second straight defensive player of the week honor. Seniors Doug Rose and Jordan Watt earned offensive player of the week on October 30 and November 4, respectively.
Davis became the second player in program history to record a hat trick in the win over King's on Friday. He scored a pair of power play goals before completing the hat trick with 49 seconds remaining in regulation. Davis had a hand in all four goals as he assisted sophomore Dominic Brenza to finish with four points. His four points ties the program record, which was set by Watt earlier in the season.
The senior finished the weekend with six shots and +1 rating.
In net, Caffrey stopped 56 of the 57 shots he saw on net to earn a pair of wins. He totaled 22 saves on 23 shots versus King's before totaling 34 saves for his second career shutout. This season, Caffrey has stopped 124 of the 129 shots he has faced for a .961 save percentage and a 1.02 goals against average, which rank second and fourth in Division III.
Stevenson returns to action on Friday, November 17 when the Mustangs host a United Collegiate Hockey Conference (UCHC) contest versus Elmira beginning at 7:00 p.m.
