WHITE HAVEN, Pa. - The Stevenson men's golf team won its fourth-straight MAC Commonwealth Championship by one stroke over second-place Lebanon Valley at the Mount Laurel Golf Club. The Mustangs, who now have five MAC Commonwealth Championships, shot a tournament-low 305 in the second round to overcome a three-shot deficit. Head Coach Chris Ramer claimed Coach of the Year honors for the fourth straight year and fifth time overall.
Junior Tyler Slusarczyk shot a career-low score of 70 (-2) in the final round to move up to second place overall. Slusarczyk, who finished with a total score of 148 (+4), earned All-MAC First Team honors for finishing in the top 5.
Senior Josh Maisel carded a six-over 78 (+6) in the final round, giving him a two-day total of 155 (+11) and into a tie for sixth. Maisel, who earned All-MAC Second Team honors, now has eight top 10 finishes on the year.
Junior Matthew Shur improved by one stroke in the second round with an 80, giving him a total score of 161 (+17). Completing the team score for the Mustangs was freshman Shane Angle, who carded an 82 on the day to finish with total score of 162.
Senior Wynn Geis improved on his opening round score by 12 strokes with a 77.
Kyung Chung of Alvernia took the individual title with a two-day total of 145 (+1).
The Mustangs will now head to Nicholasville, Ky. to compete at the NCAA Division III Championships, which will be held at the Keene Trace Golf Club starting on Tuesday, May 14 through Friday, May 17.
