Maisel Finishes Tied For Second, Mustangs Third at Goucher Invite

PHOENIX, Md. - Senior Josh Maisel took second overall after shooting a four-over par 76 on the second and final day of the Goucher Invitational, held at the Hillendale Country Club. Maisel improved on his opening round score by two strokes, putting him just two shots back of tournament winner Ben Ailsworth of Lynchburg. Maisel, who also had the lowest overall round on the day, now has two second-place finishes on the year. 

Junior Matthew Shur carded rounds of 79 on each day of the tournament, giving him seventh overall. Shur now has four top-10 finishes this season. 

Junior Tyler Slusarczyk shot a 77 to open the tournament before carding an 84 in the final round, which placed him into a tie for 10th.

Freshman Shane Angle finished with a total score of 162, giving him a share of 12th place. Angle's opening round of 79 gives him 13 rounds under 80 on the year. Senior Wynn Geis finished just two shots back of Angle with a two-day total of 164. 

Freshman Mike Festa and junior Jake McNamara ended the tournament with two-day totals of 169 and 174, respectively.

The Mustangs' final tune-up before the MAC Championship takes place on Tuesday, April 16 when they compete in the Gettysburg Spring Invitational. Tee time is set for 12:30 p.m.
