Maione Shoots 74 in Final Round of Tom Kinder Memorial

HARRISONBURG, Va. - Stevenson men's golf sophomore Matthew Maione fired a 74 to lead the Mustangs in the final round of the Tom Kinder Memorial, held at the Lakeview Golf Club. Maione finished the two-round tournament with a total score of 155 (+11), which placed him into a tie for 38th. Due to not having four players complete each round, the Mustangs did not have a team score.

Both rounds of the tournament were played in one day due to possible inclement weather on Tuesday.

Junior Josh Maisel carded a 79 in both of his rounds to finish tied for 52nd, while sophomore Andrew Wally shot rounds of 79 and 80. Wally has shot under 80 in 20 of his first 26 career rounds.

Sophomores Evan Welsh and Troy Wood, who played as individuals, finished with combined scores of 165 and 181, respectively.

Senior Austin Fuglestad shot an 88 in the opening round of the tournament, but did not complete the final round.

Lance Keiser of Ferrum took the individual title by four strokes after finishing the tournament at 12-under par, which included a second round score of 64. Guilford won the team title by 20 strokes over second-place N.C. Wesleyan with a combined score of 16-under par.

The Mustangs compete next at the Elizabethtown Fall Invitational held at the Hershey Country Club on Tuesday, September 19 at 12:00 pm.
