HERSHEY, Pa. - Freshman Matthew Shur and Johnny Messina each finished tied for second in leading the Stevenson men's golf team to first place overall at the Elizabethtown invitational held at Hershey Country Club East. The Mustangs, who had all four scorers finish under 80, won the tournament by four strokes over Cabrini with a combined score of 304.
Both Shur and Messina shot a three-over par 74, which was just one stroke behind Cabrini's Joseph Myers. Shur, who has shot under 80 in three of his last four rounds, now has two top-five finishes on the season.
Wynn Geis matched his season-best score with a 77, while junior Austin Fuglestad finished the day with a 79.
Also competing for the Mustangs was freshman Andrew Wally, who carded an 82.
Sophomore Chris Miller, who played as an individual, shot an 84.
The Mustangs tee off next when they host the Stevenson Spring Invitational, held at the Piney Branch Golf Club, on Thursday, April 20 at 12:30 pm.
