Mustangs Fall to Albright in Regular Season Finale

READING, Pa. - Stevenson placed four players in double figures, but Albright clinched a berth into the MAC Commonwealth Men's Basketball Championship with a 75-69 win at the Bollman Center.  The same two teams will meet Monday night at Stevenson in a conference tournament first round game.

  • Albright (8-16, 7-9 MAC Commonwealth) opened a 16-10 lead at the 13:35 mark on a Sidney Brown basket.
  • Stevenson (14-11, 8-8 MAC Commonwealth) used an 8-3 run capped by a Johnny Rhodes basket at the 8:26 mark to pull within one, 19-18.
  • A 7-2 Lion spurt put the hosts back on top 26-20 with 7:12 left in the opening half.
  • The Mustangs pulled back within two, 30-28, with 2:56 left on a dunk by Marcus Dentley.
  • Albright closed the half with a 5-1 spurt to take a 35-29 lead into the locker room.

  • A 7-0 run by Albright to start the half put it up 13, 42-29, at the 17:27 mark.
  • The Lions extended their lead to 19, 54-35, with 12:17 remaining.
  • Stevenson reeled off nine straight points to pull within 10, 54-44, on two Cam Harris free throws with 10:02 on the clock.
  • Another Dentley dunk at the 8:09 mark extended the run to 13-1 and pulled the Mustangs within seven, 55-48.
  • Albright pushed the lead back to 13, 67-54, with 3:45 left following a three by Jared Rappoport.
  • Stevenson, trailing by 12 with 2:02 to play, closed the game on a 10-4 run to pull within six and account for the final.

  • Albright shot 44.8% for the contest and held Stevenson to 37.5% shooting, including 3-24 behind the arc.
  • The Mustangs held a 37-29 rebound advantage.
  • Montaque Wright led four Mustangs in double figures with 18 points, while Dentley had 14 points.
  • Mark Terrell posted 13 points, while Evan Joseph finished with a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds.  Joseph was 5-6 from the floor.
  • The Lion bench outscored the Mustang reserves 27-11.

  • Stevenson hosts Albright in a rematch of Saturday's game Monday night when the fourth-seeded Mustangs host the No. 5 Lions in the MAC Commonwealth opening round.
  • Stevenson and Albright split the season series, with each team winning on its home floor.
  • The Mustangs are making their first MAC Commonwealth Championship appearance since 2015-16.
