STEUBENVILLE, Ohio - Led by a career-high 32 points from junior Erik Fisher and 18 points and 13 rebounds from senior Justin Kuntz, the Stevenson men's basketball team won the ECAC Division III South Championship with an 83-73 victory over Commonwealth Conference rival Arcadia Sunday at Franciscan University.

The Mustangs (21-9) finish the season with a school-record 21 wins, equaling the mark set by last year's team who won the ECAC Division III Southeast Championship. The team is now 5-0 in the postseason over the last two seasons while posting a 42-17 overall record, the best two-year record in school history. The 2005-06 and 2006-07 teams went a combined 40-17.

Senior Colby Giacubeno was named the Most Outstanding Player after averaging 26.3 points over three games and going 20-for-29 from three-point range. He totaled 14 points and was 3-for-5 in Sunday's championship game.

Led by four points from Kuntz and a three-pointer by Giacubeno, Stevenson used a 9-0 run to take a 16-7 lead with 12:42 left in the first half.

However, the Knights answered with a 16-6 spurt to take a 23-22 advantage with 6:18 remaining before junior Christian Roberts scored eight of the Mustangs' final 10 points to give them a 32-29 halftime lead.

Meanwhile, the final five came from Giacubeno who totaled 11 of his 14 points in the second half.

Arcadia (16-13) would cut its deficit to just five at 71-66 with 3:14 remaining, but that would be as close as the team would get. The Mustangs outscored the Knights 12-6 the rest of the way, netting 10 points from the free throw line where they were 10-for-12.

Stevenson was 24-for-33 from the line in the second half. Fisher was 8-for-11 while Kuntz went 8-for-12 as the Mustangs posted their third win in as many meetings against Arcadia this season.
