OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Defending Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) champion Stevenson University opens its 2017 football schedule on the road with a non-conference contest against Frostburg State on Thursday, August 31 at 7:00 pm. The Mustangs are slated to play a 10-game schedule in 2017.
Stevenson is coming off its first ever NCAA appearance. The Mustangs finished 9-2 last season (9-1 MAC) placing No. 20 in the final D3football.com poll, and will face a stern challenge in their opener when they face Frostburg State for the first time. The Bobcats finished No. 23 in last season's final poll with a 10-1 record, as they defeated St. John Fisher 38-14 in the ECAC Asa S. Bushnell Bowl in Philadelphia after missing out on an NCAA at-large berth.
Following the season opener, Stevenson plays the first of five home games on Saturday, September 9 when it opens MAC play against King's (Pa.) College at noon at Mustang Stadium. That game is followed by back-to-back road tilts at FDU-Florham (Sept. 16) and Delaware Valley (Sept. 23) before closing out September at home against Misericordia on Saturday, September 30.
After an off week, the Mustangs travel to Lebanon Valley on Saturday, October 14, before welcoming Albright for Homecoming on Saturday, October 21. One week later, Widener will visit Mustang Stadium for a 1:00 kickoff.
Stevenson opens November with a game at Wilkes on November 4 before closing out the regular season at home against Lycoming on Saturday, November 11.
