OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson University football team sits No. 5 in the NCAA East Region rankings released Wednesday, falling three spots from No. 2 in last week's initial ranking. The Mustangs also fell in both national polls, and are now No. 23 in the D3football.com Top 25 and No. 24 in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division III poll.
Stevenson (8-1, 7-1 MAC) suffered its first loss of the season Saturday, falling 38-35 at home to Wilkes, its first loss since last November 7. The Mustangs can still clinch the Middle Atlantic Conference championship and accompanying NCAA berth this Saturday with a win at Lycoming College (1:00 pm) to close out the regular season.
Alfred (9-0) leads the East Region, followed by St. John Fisher (8-1), Hobart (8-1) and Wesley (7-2).
