OWINGS MILLS, Md. – Sophomore linebacker Ashton Leschke of the Stevenson University football team was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for District 2 announced Thursday afternoon. Leschke is now eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors.
Leschke is the 16th Steventon student-athlete to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, and the first from the Mustang football program. To be eligible for Academic All-America and All-District consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
Leschke, a Biology major, leads No. 12/14 Stevenson in tackles with 56 (30 solo) while posting three tackles for a loss, an interception, and five pass breakups. He has recorded at least five tackles in every game this season and had a career-best 10 stops in last week's 41-20 win over King's (Pa.) College. Leschke also broke up two passes in that victory.
Stevenson returns to action Saturday when it hosts Wilkes at 1:00 pm on Senior Day at Mustang Stadium.
