Stevenson Cheer Headed to NCA/NDA College Nationals

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - For the first time in school history, the Stevenson cheer team will be performing at the NCA/NDA Collegiate Cheer and Dance Championship. This year's event will be held at The Band Shell/Ocean Center/Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach, Florida April 7-10.
The team was invited to perform by the NCA after it submitting a video by January 15 to qualify. Led by first-year head coach Julie Franey, the Mustangs will be competing in the All-Girl Intermediate II Division.
"This is the first time VJC/SU cheerleading has been invited to perform at this prestigious competition, so we're super excited," said Franey.
Stevenson had to demonstrate excellence in stunts, tumbling, basket/sponge tosses, pyramids and game day which required a 45-second video of a game day performance.
The NCA/NDA Nationals is the largest cheer and dance championship in the world. Last year, over 200 teams competed in 15 Divisions. The Challenge Cup ensures that all teams perform at least twice with two chances to make the finals.
