Beach Volleyball Takes Two Wins Over Division II Foes

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Stevenson University women's beach volleyball team took two wins against Division II opponents on Saturday at Carson-Newman University.  The Mustangs swept the host Eagles 5-0, then edged Lincoln Memorial 3-2.

Stevenson (5-7) took three-set wins in each of the top two flights.  At No. 1, Darian Hileman and Piper Connors rallied for a 14-21, 26-24, 15-11 victory.  Emily Castro and Caroline Dangel posted a dominant third set to win 21-13, 19-21, 15-4.

Katie Leftridge and Emily Pellini prevailed 21-15, 21-18 at No. 3, while Mackenzie Blevins and Sarah Riggin notched a close 21-19, 22-20 triumph.  Victoria Prokic and Julie Nightwine were 21-8, 21-15 winners at No. 5.

Against LMU, Stevenson got wins in the bottom three flights to take a 3-0 lead.  Leftridge and Pellini rallied at No. 3 for a 18-21, 21-15, 15-8 win, while at No. 4, Blevins and Riggin won 22-20, 21-9.  Prokic and Nightwine posted a 21-16, 21-15 victory at No. 5.

Castro and Dangel forced a third set at No. 2 before falling 18-21, 21-19, 15-12.  Hileman and Connors dropped their match 22-20, 21-9.

Stevenson faces the same two teams on Sunday.
