Blevins, Pellini Finish 4-0 as Mustangs Wrap Up Beach Bash

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Stevenson University women's beach volleyball team went 1-1 on the second and final day of the Principia Beach Bash held at Empowered Sports Club on Saturday.  The Mustangs downed Principia 4-1, then fell 3-2 to Division I Tusculum.

Against Principia, Stevenson (2-2) picked up points in the bottom four flights.  At No. 3, Emily Castro and Caroline Dangel were forced to a third set before prevailing 21-12, 19-21, 15-11.

Darian Hileman and Piper Connors posted a 21-17, 21-18 win at No. 2, while Lizi Cudal and Grace Chaffee were victorious at No. 4 by scores of 21-13, 21-10.  Mackenzie Blevins and Emily Pellini held their opponent at No. 5 to four points in the first set, winning 21-4, 21-14.

Julie Nightwine and Victoria Prokic were 21-8, 21-17 winners in the No. 6 exhibition match.

Against the Pioneers, the freshman duo of Blevins and Pelllini moved to 4-0 for the weekend, winning 25-23, 21-18.  Dangel and Castro picked up the other Mustang point, winning 21-15, 21-14.  Nightwine and Prokic also won 21-17, 21-15 in the No. 6 match.

Stevenson is back in action March 17 when it opens its spring break trip at St. Thomas (Fla.).
