LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Four members of the Stevenson University softball team were named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region team this afternoon, as announced by the organization.
Third baseman McKenzie Tobler, shortstop Jordan Fangman, utility pitcher Marissa Heuer and designated player Jillian Haines were all named to the third-team out of Region V. Region V included the MAC Commonwealth, Atlantic East, Centennial, Landmark Conference, as well as Salisbury University.
Tobler's .417 average was the team best, with 45 hits (second most on the squad) along with 19 RBI and 28 runs scored. She also stole a team best eight bases. She was a second-team All-MAC Commonwealth selection.
Haines was second on the team in batting average at .414. She had 36 hits, with 11 of them being for extra bases. Her three triples were tied for the team lead. Her .414 batting average was third best in the MAC Commonwealth, while her OPS at 1.078 was third best in the conference. In the circle, she was 5-5 with a 5.70 ERA and 27 strikeouts. She was a first-team All-MAC Commonwealth selection.
Heuer led the Mustangs in the circle with a 2.69 ERA in 24 appearances. In 18 games started, she went the distance in 16 of them with 133 strikeouts and just 26 walks. She had five shutouts. Her 122.1 innings pitched was third best in the MAC Commonwealth, while her 133 strikeouts were tops in the conference. In the batters box, she posted a .338 average with a 1.078 OPS. Of her 26 hits, 14 of them went for extra bases. Like Haines, she was a first team All-MAC Commonwealth selection.
Fangman batted .364 this season with 40 hits and 22 runs scored. Her 27 RBI was a team best. She was tied for the team lead in doubles with eight. She was a second-team All-MAC Commonwealth selection.
Stevenson finished the year 18-17, 10-8 in the MAC Commonwealth and advanced to the conference playoffs.
