Greene, Walker Honored With MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete Award

ANNVILLE, Pa. – Seniors Alicia Greene and Joshua Walker of the Stevenson University women’s and men’s golf teams have been named by the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) as the winners of the Senior Scholar-Athlete Award for their respective sports. 

The MAC Senior Scholar-Athletes are announced after the completion of each sport season. The awards are given to one senior student-athlete from each sport who exhibits top academic excellence and athletic prowess. The MAC Senior Scholar-Athlete award is based 50 percent on academics (cumulative GPA) and 50 percent on athletic achievements.

The 2015-16 Fall, Winter and Spring MAC Senior Scholar-Athletes will be recognized and receive their awards on Tuesday, May 3 at the 16th Annual MAC Awards Luncheon at Delaware Valley University.

Greene, a Biochemistry major with a 3.977 grade point average, recently helped lead the Stevenson women’s golf team to its second straight Middle Atlantic Conference women’s golf title.  She finished tied for second in the tournament with teammate Emily Haas at 176 to earn MAC First Team All-Conference honors.  Last season, Greene was a MAC Second Team performer as the Mustangs won their first conference title.  A three-time MAC Academic Honor Roll member, Greene was named to the MAC All-Acdemic Team last season, and in 14 events has posted nine top-10s while currently second on the team in stroke average (88.3).

Walker is a Computer Information Systems major with a 3.83 grade point average.  A three-time MAC Academic Honor Roll member, Walker has played in eight events for the Mustangs this season, compiling an 86.8 stroke average, shooting a season-best 81 in the Penn State Harrisburg Invitational, while last season he played he posted an 84.9 stroke average in 10 rounds.

Both Stevenson golf teams captured their respective conference championships this past weekend and will compete at the upcoming NCAA Division III Golf Championship.  The women’s event is set for May 10-13 at Bay Oaks Golf Club in Houston, Texas, while the men’s championship is set for May 10-13 at Midvale Country Club and Mendon Golf Club in Rochester, N.Y.
